My name is Kent Clark, I'm 20 years old, and I'm from the defunct hamlet of Liebhardt in Ulster County, New York. I spent much of my childhood in the woods along the Mettacahonts Creek. When we were young, my father would put me and my brother on top of a blanket in a wheelbarrow and push us down the road. We would take our dogs there and throw sticks into the stream for them to fetch. I had this huge, furry, black mutt named Addison that would take herself on walks down to the stream whenever we didn't, and our chocolate lab Harley would accompany her. They'd mosey out of the yard, down the road, through the woods, go for a swim, and come home. That's where I learned to skip a stone and catch crayfish.
I used to work as a harvester on cut flower farm in Kerhonkson, New York, called Treadlight Farm. We sold to florists and floral wholesalers throughout the Hudson Valley and NYC. We specialize in dahlias but grow a large variety of annuals and perennials. I spent 7 months of my gap year working there, and have worked there during the summer ever since. Before that, I worked at an agro-tourism business called Kelder's Farm, which is home to the world's third largest garden gnome, Gnome Chomsky.
Last year I went to SUNY Cobleskill where I studied environmental management. I had a generally miserable time there, but I gained defining interests in a few areas. First, I took an entomology class that both sparked an interest in the subject and landed me a job helping to survey soil dwelling invertebrates. During the spring semester I took a weekend Field Geology class that consisted of 5 hour field trips every Saturday to go visit and describe rock strata. Between these, in the depths of my misery, I learned how to edit Wikipedia. I've had an interest in the subject for years due to following Depths of Wikipedia, but that winter marked my first foray in participation in it. Link to my Wikipedia userpage.
I have a tattoo of mountain laurel on the outside of my right shoulder. On my left I want a matching dahlia. On the back of my left shoulder I'd like a skeleton or fossil.
My Holy Trinity of favorite movies is Jennifer's Body, DEBS, and But I'm a Cheerleader. I have an unfortunate taste in movies.
